Dr. Susanta Patra is the General Secretary of India Missions Association. Susanta received Jesus as his savior in the year 1970 in a street evangelistic outreach program at Cuttack city. After accepting Christ, though he was disowned by his family yet the Lord used him to bring 221 students to Christ through person evangelism. Late he was introduced to and got involved with Evangelical Union in Orissa. He was deeply involved in sharing the good news in the college campus and taking leadership in Evangelical Union (Inter-varsity Fellowship) for six years. He played a serious part in the ministry of Christian Endeavour Union as one of the leaders. He responded to the call of God for full time service in a Missionary Conference 1976 and went to Calcutta to study in a Baptist Bible College, where he received is Bachelor degree in Theology. During his study, he was involved in Church Planting in the Calcutta slums. During his four years of theological studies, while working in the slums of Kolkata, he planted 8 congregations and then God placed in his heart a deep passion for the Bengalis. After his graduation from the Bible College, he went back to Cuttack for one year to work in his Church. Later in accordance to the call of God and with the ordination & blessing of his Church, he returned to Calcutta to work among the Bengalis, the 4th largest people group in the world in 1981. In the first phase of his life, he was instrumental in pioneering and planting of 221 churches in the untouched areas. Later, he founded a pioneer Church Planting Mission called NATIONAL FELLOWSHIP, which works today in 18 states in Northern India among 377 untouched people group and with 656 pioneers. National Fellowship today is the largest North India mission with 5000 to 7000 responses every month and is planting 2 fellowships each week. He is the leader of National Fellowship and has led the mission to new heights in the work of reaching the unreached & planting fellowship among them. God picked him up, blessed him because of his vision & passion for the lost, used him in the ministry of His kingdom and honored him with various honors both nationally & internationally. He continues to have the honor of being the Pastor at large for 721 (new churches with 99% are from first generation Christians) in Northern India which he helped planted. He has been involved in the India Mission Association in various capacities like being in the executive committee and coordinating the Board Members’ Network. Today he serves as the General Director of the India Missions Association, which is the largest mission alliance in the world representing 55000 Indian missionaries and Susanta is responsible for all of them. His wife Asangla is from Nagaland and has three children Khristina, Martina and Nathan. Their eldest daughter Khristina serves as the Producer of Yahoo-India and their second daughter Martina is now an Animator in 3D animation in Mumbai. Their son Nathan is pursuing his studies at the Wilson College. Susanta and Asangla now resides in Hyderabad and work from the Vision City, Hyderabad which is the headquarters of the India Missions Association.
